Park & Facilities
SPAR offers a comprehensive park experience that includes everything for those who love the outdoors. Providing venues for community and regional activities including golf at the historic Frasch Golf Course and walking paths at our unique parks. Facilities for active sports include softball, tennis, volleyball, basketball, pickleball, disc golf, soccer and baseball. Picnic pavilions and playgrounds are available at various parks.
No Animals are allowd at SPAR Facilities, with the exception of the Fideaux Field and service animals. Service animals are defined as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities by Title II and III of the American Disabilities Act and Louisiana State Law. Companion or comfort animals are not recognized as legal service animals. To help assist you with your visit, we may ask what task your service animal performs for you.
Guests who use service animals must retain control of their animals at all times and should keep them on a leash or harness while visiting. To participate in a ride or activity, their service animal may be left with a non-rider or non-participant.
Service animals are the responsibility of the owner and cannot be left unattended at any time. SPAR employees are not permitted to supervise, transport, or take custody of service animals at any time.
Service animal behavior, including waste cleanup, is the responsibility of the owner. For your convenience, service animal "Relief Areas" for permitted service animals are located in the open oudoor areas of SPAR facilities, away from playing fields, for guests to use.

Carlyss Park
Carlyss Park was first established in 1968. The current site located at 6043 Carlyss Drive was purchased in 1981 & the previous site on Dave Dugas Road was sold. The park features four baseball/softball fields, two football fields, a gymnasium, two tennis courts, a recreation room available for rent, a covered basketball pavilion, multiple covered picnic areas, a walking/jogging path, 2 concession stands for use during recreation sports seasons, and a recently upgraded playground. Center Circle Park
After undergoing complete remodel, Center Circle Park, as of October 11, 2024 is open to the public! Click here to view photos of the progress and the new park and pool. Center Circle Park, located at 80 Center Circle Drive, was one of the original tracts purchased in 1952 to establish the Sulphur Parks district. The size of the park has been increased via additional land purchases over the years. The site now includes a swimming pool operated during the summer months, three tennis courts, a covered basketball pavilion, multiple covered picnic areas, and a recently upgraded inclusive playground and splashpad.

Fideaux Field
Welcome to Fideaux Field! SPAR's dog park is located at 900 Parish Rd, Sulphur LA. We offer a large dog park area and a small dog park area to keep our furry pals safe. Please familiarize yourself with the Rules and Dog Park Etiquette. Both areas of the dog park have ramps, tunnels and plenty of grassy area for fideaux to run, roll and jump.

Frasch Golf Course
Frasch Golf Course is an eighteen hole, par 71 course that features mature trees throughout and a challenging terrain located at 400 Picard Rd. Sulphur LA. Frasch Park
Frasch Park, located at 400 Picard Rd was one of the first land acquisitions upon the formation of the Sulphur Parks district. The original purchase was a 90 acre tract that was developed into the current site of Frasch Park Golf Course and Frasch Park. The existing park features beautiful live oaks shading several playground areas, multiple covered picnic areas, a covered basketball pavilion, the Juliet Benglis Gymnasium, a recreation room available for rent, three tennis courts, three sand volleyball courts, two baseball fields, and a multi-tunneled batting cage. Henning Cultural Center
Henning Cultural Center was originally the home of community leader Rev. John T Henning. The home was built in 1904 and was owned by the Henning family until 1942. Sulphur Parks & Recreation acquired the property in 2002 with the vision of offering the community exposure to traveling exhibits and local artists, through an agreement with the Brimstone Historical Society. Renovations were completed on the property and it was opened to the public in 2004 and has grown to be a center piece of the Heritage Square community area. Each year in December the Christmas Under the Oaks festival grows and brings a unique experience to the Sulphur community along with the entire Southwest Louisiana area. Kyle Street Park
Kyle Street Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the SPAR family of parks. It is located at 200 Kyle Street and features a walking track shaded by trees, a playground, multiple covered picnic areas, and a gymnasium.

Maplewood Commons
Opened in 2018, Maplewood Commons is the newest development in the Center Circle Park complex continuing the expansion of SPAR’s passive park offerings, providing a quiet natural green space in an easily accessible location for residents to enjoy. In 1943/1944 the “new, modern” town of Maplewood was created for the employees of Cities Service Refinery featuring Louisiana’s first shopping center. On this historic site, the park offers tranquil settings, fountains, and landscaped walking paths with quiet sitting areas.

McMurry Park
McMurry Park, named for former parks director T.D. McMurry, has been the host site for the LHSAA Championships since 2012! Located at 300 Hazel Street, development began in 1960 with an initial land purchase. It has been expanded and improved over the years to include six tennis courts, six pickleball courts, gymnasium, covered basketball pavilion, covered playground area, multiple covered picnic areas, thirteen baseball fields (four high school sized & three of the four are turfed), three multi-tunneled batting cages, six various sized soccer fields, and multiple concession stands for use during recreation sports events & tournaments. North Frasch Softball Complex
North Frasch Softball Complex has hosted the LHSAA State High School FastPitch 56 Softball Championships since 2001! The park offers six turfed softball fields, two grass softball fields, a multi-tunneled batting cage, and three concession stands for use during recreation sports events and tournaments. Pattison Complex
Pattison Park, named for former parks director Pat Pattison, is a ten field baseball/softball park located at 1400 Picard Road. The park features ten turfed fields, a playground area, multiple picnic areas, large oak shaded rest areas, a two tunnel batting cage, and three concession stands for use during recreation sports events and tournaments. Recreation & Aquatic Center
Opened in May of 2005 and offers a recreation avenue to the community as an addition to the extensive opportunities previously available to Ward 4 District 2 Recreation district. The facility offers free services in an air-conditioned elevated walking track with access to stationary bikes and a mezzanine area with tables. Through various membership opportunities, the facility also provides a fitness room with a variety of weight and cardio equipment, an Olympic sized pool, a teaching pool with a zero depth ramp entrance, numerous group and aquatic fitness classes, two indoor basketball/volleyball courts, two racquetball courts, and an outdoor exercise track. The Grove at Heritage Square
The Grove at Heritage Square offers a tranquil setting within an urban environment. Set in the midst of a pecan grove that has historical significance for Sulphur, the pedestrian park features fountains, walking paths, sitting and picnic areas, a stage, restrooms and Wi-Fi. There is also Sulphur Regional Library's Little Free Library located in a birdhouse-type structure along the walking path, where members of the community can pick up a book to read. The park acts as a cornerstone for the Heritage Square area that is compromised of the Brimstone Museum, the Henning Cultural Center, and the City Pavilion. Through the combined efforts of the Brimstone Historical Society, the City of Sulphur, and Sulphur Parks & Recreation, the Square provides a beautiful venue for a variety of festivals and community events. The park adds one more level to the unique park experience Sulphur Parks & Recreation is dedicated to providing the community it serves.

Waterpark
SPAR Water Park offers the community a large child-friendly splash and play island, splash pad, lazy river, lagoon pool, inner-tube only Raging River, Parrot Island play area, one body slide, four tube slides. Visit the official SPAR Waterpark Website.
